Title of Movie
The title sequence for the conjuring has titles over still
images. These images are of old, black and white photographs of several
families, a big house, newspaper reports and people doing a ritual of calling
ghosts. For some images, there is a person which is flipping and developing a
photo of an abandoned doll. There is an eerie, slow soundtrack of string
instruments. The titles are in small, black font and are mostly in the middle
of the image. This changes when the actor’s names appear as they are put over
black blocks which covers the eyes of the many people in the family picture.
Not only does this introduce who plays what character, but it indicates a sense
of death of these characters by not showing their eyes. This dark theme is
linked to the demonic activities as seen in the news report and the image of
the people doing to Ouija board. I liked this title sequence as it had a big
effect on me- making me feel scared and intrigued as to know what happens to
these characters in relation with the demonic activities.

This title sequence has titles over many different moving
images which appear very quickly. We see two types of clips which alternate
throughout. One group includes high school students at parties, money, science
potions/experiments, people in a class room and graphics of hearts. This
portrays that the movie is based on high school. However, there are also clips
of police cars, gun shots, bullets, explosions and a type writer which types
‘Investigation…’ The introduction to the types of characters (young students
and the police) makes it is clear that they will combine lifestyles. The titles
are big and boxy. It is in white font and is in the middle of screen. The top
line of the title would move left and the second line would move right and so
on when they exit the shot. They also vibrate according to the bass of the loud
speakers in one scene and to the gun shot noises. The soundtrack is electronic
and very fast paced. I liked this title sequence as it shows a lot of scenes
but doesn't give away the main plot, leaving a sense of enigma.
